How do I know if I have rats?

Don’t let rats take over your home and yard! Are you hearing scratching noises at night or seeing fruit half eaten? This is a sure sign rats are around and we recommend taking immediate steps to eliminate them from your home. Rats will leave a pheromone in the areas they travel, attracting other rats to the area. It is important to stop the spread of this pheromone by eliminating the rats as soon as possible.

What are the risks of rats?

Rats can cause fire damage due to damaged electric wires, water damage from chewed water lines, and spread illnesses as they travel through disgusting things before entering your home.

What does a rat service cost?

Our extensive exclusion and elimination services start at just $600 for a basic home. We offer free inspections to determine if rodents are in your area and provide an estimate for services. Don’t wait! Contact us today for a free consultation and take back your Boise home.

How do you control rats?

Controlling rats around your home requires a combination of prevention, exclusion, and elimination strategies. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you manage and prevent a rat infestation effectively:

1. Seal Entry Points

Rats can squeeze through openings as small as ½ inch. Check for:

  • Seal all entry points on the roof, around pipes, garage doors, and other areas that may allow access
  • Gaps under doors—install door sweeps.
  • Garage doors must by inspected and new sweeps or other exclusion options should be made

2. Remove Food Sources

  • Seal all food sources, including pet food, in rodent-proof containers.
  • Eliminate waste and make sure all garbage cans can shut tight.
  • Remove outdoor food sources like bird seeds from the yard.

3. Use Traps Effectively

  • Snap traps: Place baited traps along walls and in areas where rats are active.
  • If the infestation is large, outdoor bait stations can be employed. They need to be pet and child safe and have regular maintenance.

4. Eliminate Water Sources

  • Make sure all plumbing and pipes are in working order with no leaks.
  • Review the yard to remove all water holding items, like bird baths, tires, etc.

5. Declutter and Maintain Yard

  • Trim plants and remove debris that provides hiding spots. Trim up all plants to at least 18 inches off the ground.
  • All firewood and outdoor equipment must be at least 18 inches off the ground and away from buildings.
  • Keep grass short.
